Giants of the Maldives

The Expedition
This expedition takes you to one of the very few places on Earth where you can swim with whale sharks year-round and witness one of the ocean’s most extraordinary events.

The Maldives’ Hanifaru Bay is famous for its manta ray gatherings — a natural phenomenon that only happens for a short window each year. Whale sharks glide through the bay throughout the year, and during full moons, hundreds of manta rays arrive to feed in slow, spiraling formations.
Itinerary
Day 1 — Welcome to Malé!
We welcome you in Malé and transfer by speedboat to your island home in the South Ari Atoll. Settle in, meet the group, and ease into island life. Sunset swim, first shared dinner, barefoot and unhurried.
Day 2 — Whale Shark Waters
Your first full day on the ocean. We explore the feeding grounds of whale sharks—present here year-round. Slow swims, quiet moments, and time to simply float and observe. Optional photography session in the afternoon.
Day 3 — Manta Madness and beach BBQ
Timed with the full moon, we head to Hanifaru Bay to witness one of the ocean’s rarest events: dozens—sometimes hundreds—of mantas feeding in a single place. A powerful, humbling day. Evening beach bonfire under the stars.
Day 4 — Reefs, Rays & Free Time
We explore vibrant coral reefs filled with turtles, eagle rays, and reef sharks. The afternoon is yours—rest, journal, edit photos, or join a freediving or marine biology workshop.
Day 5 — Dolphins & Sandbanks
Morning dolphin cruise followed by a sandbank escape in the middle of the ocean. Snorkeling, swimming, and slow conversations. Farewell dinner as the sun drops into the sea.
Day 6 — See you soon!
Early swim or quiet breakfast before speedboat transfer back to Malé. You leave lighter—sun-kissed, salt-soaked, and carrying something that stays.

Amazing expedition! I've been on tours for the past 5 years but this was by far my favorite one so far! Made so many new friends that I can't wait to see again soon (in the ocean hopefully :)

The application process seemed like overkill at first but now I understand it completely. Everyone showed up ready to be present and actually connect. No phones-out-at-dinner types. Refreshing
